Dawn BeckGroup Solution Architect dunnhumby Dawn Beck joined dunnhumby in 2005 from a consulting background and was challenged with re-engineering and aligning reporting strategy for dunnhumby's growing business.
Traditionally from a services and data background the challenge of moving terabytes of data and making sense of it in a relevant, timely manner was just up Dawn's street. A complete shift in focus to a much more visible customer facing role has challenged Dawn to enhance her knowledge of business process within the retail sector and embrace the business intelligence world examining not just what users say they want but what is relevant and necessary for their job roles.

Dr Zafar ChaudryDirector of Information Management & Technology Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust Dr. Chaudry holds a degree in Medicine, a MSc in Health Care Management and a MSc in Information Systems. Dr Chaudry is registered with the UK Council for Health Informatics Professionals as a level 3 Health Informatics Specialist. He is a member of the British Medical Association and British Computer Society, and has been widely published. Zafar has over 14 years of cutting-edge experience in the implementation of healthcare information systems and IT in managed care settings spanning acute care hospitals, clinics, multi-specialty group practices and software companies.
Zafar has specific expertise in strategic planning, health care policy analysis and development, development and management of innovative knowledge management and health informatics systems; evidence-based medicine, internet/intranet planning and development. He has also been involved in the development of point-of-care diagnostic software that has been chosen for use at Northwestern, Harvard and McGill Universities.
Robert Daniels-DwyerData Quality Leader Network Rail Robert is currently responsible for ensuring that Network Rail’s decision makers have access to relevant, reliable data, to support the making of effective decisions about the nation’s railway network. In particular, he looks after metadata and quality issues relating to structured data within Information Delivery. Before joining Network Rail, he was the Data Quality Architect at Yell Ltd, the publisher of Yellow Pages, and was previously a data warehousing/business intelligence consultant for Oracle and Bull.
Robert began his data management career in the modelling and analysis of complex archaeological data sets, using geographic information systems, and computer–aided design and engineering tools. He also has an interest in the legal implications of data management. Trevor DukesHead of Information Strategy W H Smith Trevor has spent his entire career at W H Smith having held positions within the Marketing/Buying/Logistics/Finance and most recently the IT Division. This broad experience, albeit within one organisation, has provided him with a unique insight into BI from both a user and provider’s perspective.
Having implemented a Teradata data warehouse over 10 years ago, his current responsibilities are focussed on establishing the data warehouse as the single source of data within the business, building interactive user applications to read from and write to the data warehouse and providing a comprehensive yet diverse BI platform to support both Head Office and Store personnel.
Anthony FlackManager MIS & Market Intelligence ISBAN UK Following the take-over of Abbey by Banco Santander, Anthony moved to a group function in Banco Santander – ISBAN (who operate as a Banking Software Consultancy), working in an advisory role with the bank on the MIS systems and strategy, and the implementation of an end to end banking software application called Partenon. Having spent his entire career at Abbey, moving around the business from retail banking into measurement and reward, and then into business information. Experience in the development of a HR portal for the group, and a dedicated data warehouse to support this, similar architecture currently being deployed with other MIS solutions through a web application called Banksphere. Strong interest in the impacts of change and transformation on IT and MIS before, during and after mergers and acquisitions. Natasha-Jane HaggertyGlobal Financial Systems Manager Experian
Natasha qualified as an accountant in 1998 while working in the Corporate Finance department for GlaxoSmithKline (then GlaxoWellcome). Since then, she has specialised as a Systems Accountant in the Corporate Performace Management (CPM) sector using a variety of Consolidation solutions.
Natasha currently manages the Experian Global Consolidation and Reporting System, which supports both Group Statutory and Group Management Reporting to provide fast and accurate results from the same source, thereby achieving "one version of the truth".
Experian is currently being demerged from its parent company GUS plc. The various transition projects related to this separation have contributed to the critical nature of this system. Sanjeev GuptaCIO Westminster PCT
Sanjeev is currently CIO of the Westminster PCT. At 34, he is one of the youngest CIOs in the NHS. He has worked for the NHS for the past 6 years, previously working in the Private Sector. During this time, he worked for many organisations, including Generic Software Consultants Ltd, Nokia, and Royal London. His last Private Sector post was as the Operations Manager EMEA for WebGain International.
As a strong believer in using methodologies for both Private and Public Sector projects, Sanjeev has tended to use lessons learnt from each area to compliment and assist in new projects. Eddy van HamersveldNational Sales Manager, Manager Information & Analysis Yakult Nederland BV Eddy joined Yakult in 2002 as Manager Information & Analysis and is responsible for reporting, analysis and dBase management. In 2004 Eddy has worked for the European HQ of Yakult as European Market Intelligence Manager, after that he returned to Yakult Netherlands as Sales Manager and Information Manager. Yakult is working with ERP, SQL and uses Spotfire DC as reporting and analysis tool. Modeling, data integration and forecasting are the current projects running within Yakult. Previously Eddy has worked for the Greenery International as Market Analyst UK.
John B HughesTechnology Development Manager Standard Life Investments John has been with Standard Life since 1994. Since the launch of Standard Life Investments in 1999, John has been responsible for developing the use of technology by the Investment Company. This remit covers the technology supporting all Investment disciplines, including Buy-Side Research, Dealer Desk, Market Data Services, Telephony, Business Intelligence, and Informational Reporting. Since 2002, John has been responsible for the design and implementation of our Information Delivery Architecture to support the business intelligence and reporting needs of the business. Prior to joining Standard Life, he was an independent Technology Consultant working with many of the large Financial Services Companies in the UK. Tony JaskeranHead of Information Systems Musgrave Tony spent his early years working in the media for companies that include Thames Television, The Economist and The Observer within Financial and Management accounting. After spending a number of years in the music industry he moved into food manufacturing at Allied Bakeries home of the Kingsmill, Sunblest and Allinson brands. His role on leaving was Head of Business Intelligence primarily responsible for delivering information at the strategic, tactical and operational levels across all business divisions. Recently implemented projects include budgeting, planning and forecasting through the Commercial, Finance and Operations area and more recently real time information reporting through supply chain. Having now joined food retailer Musgrave as Head of Information Systems he will be working with company executives in order to develop and implement Business Intelligence solutions across the organisation to support the group's growth strategy. Yasmin MeraliDirector of the Information Systems Research Unit Warwick Business School Yasmin’s research focuses on transformation in the network economy, deploying the "information lens" to explore issues of transformation in organisational and strategic contexts. Her recent work draws on complexity theory to study organisation in the information space. Its scope embraces public and private sector organisations and environments. In the public sector she is particularly interested in the potential of self-organising networks to realise service and information delivery aspirations of e-government initiatives.
A frequent speaker at international conferences, Yasmin has extensive consultancy experience that spans both public and private sector UK and multinational organisations. She lectures on MBA and executive programs internationally. Nick PoveyHead of Information Management UK Civil Aviation Authority
Nick is an Aeronautical Engineer and Designer, whose career has spanned from flight-testing and aircraft certification through the management of international aviation safety research, business process re-engineering and change management.
He now leads a team responsible for IM policy and he development and provision of information services including the CAA's Internet and Intranet sites, records management, library and enquiry services, publishing, printing and Information Rights.
Nick has published many papers on Aviation Safety and Research and more latterly has spoken on Web and Information Management topics at a number of conferences.The CAA is the UK's specialist aviation regulator. Prof. Merlin StoneDirector WCL and Nowell Stone
Merlin is one of the UK's most experienced consultants, lecturers and trainers in CRM, database marketing and customer service. He has written many articles and thirty books on these subjects.
He is a Founder Fellow of the Institute of Direct Marketing and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He is a Director of WCL, specialists in change management in the public and private sectors and of Nowell Stone Ltd, an organisational development and consulting company specialising in database marketing, CRM, e-business, customer service and IT. He has pursued a full academic career and is Visiting Professor at six universities.
Peter ThomasManager for European Management Information Technology and Vice President Chubb Insurance Company of Europe In 1996, Peter joined Chubb Insurance Company of Europe and, in 2000, was appointed as Manager for European Management Information Technology. In this capacity, he developed and promoted the idea of a single, central reporting system for Europe - EMIR - meeting the needs of all business units. This project became a top IT priority and was allocated substantial funding for many years. The first three elements of EMIR were launched during 2003 and 2004. Future releases are planned for 2005 and 2006. These have been supported by a large number of interim reporting initiatives and a strong commitment to training.
Peter was appointed a Vice President of Chubb in 2001.
Steve WhittleBusiness Information Controller for Operations Rolls-Royce Steve has worked for Rolls-Royce in various IT roles for over twenty seven years. Whilst in Finance, Steve has produced a number of analysis tools capable of rapid analysis of program changes, Key Performance Indicators and Financial Information. Steve implemented a solution in, and developed all reports for, RR Logistics in the UK. He was responsible for the development of the 'Forecast to Cash' model, this provided a comprehensive process map of all activities and transactions utilised with UK ERP and he was instrumental in establishing a new corporate master scheduling process for Defence Aerospace. Steve is on his first Green Belt project and has chaired various special interest groups. Eleanor WindsorHead of Business Intelligence Osborne Clarke
After obtaining an honours degree in Financial Services, Eleanor worked at NatWest Insurance Services where she undertook various strategic and marketing projects.
Since joining Osborne Clarke in 1999, she has operated as an internal consultant and project manager working on a wide variety of projects including knowledge management, setting up and opening two European offices, various IT projects and a review of management information (MI).
In 2005 Eleanor became head of the new Business Intelligence function in the firm, continuing much of the work she started in the MI programme and formally bringing together a team of people to help support management in making more informed business decisions, measuring performance across the firm, identifying new business opportunities and providing comprehensive and cutting edge analysis.
