MSc in Business Intelligence

New Master's course in BI set to commence in January 2010

Many of you will know Mark Whitehorn as a consultant and commentator on the world of BI; he is a very popular speaker at our Obis Omni events.  Mark is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Dundee which is introducing a Masters course in BI.  Mark will be leading the course which will start in January 2010.

The Masters will be available as a one year full-time course.  However, and this may be of more interest to Obis Omni members, the intention is to also make it available on a part-time basis – meaning that people already in employment can obtain the qualification over a longer period; typically 2 years.

This MSc. is unique in the UK in not being tied to a specific vendor’s software.  Indeed, an important design goal is to give the students exposure to a wide range of software, technologies and methodologies.  By the end of the course the students should be in a position to make informed decisions, not only about BI design and architecture, but also about the strengths and weaknesses of the solutions offered by different vendors.
