Using DMExpress for Change Data Capture

Change data capture, or delta processing, is a technique in which an older file and a new file are compared to identify changes that have occurred. Only the data that has changed is updated in the master file. This type of processing will help reduce the amount of data that will need to be uploaded to a data warehouse, improving performance. This white paper describes two methods for performing change data capture processing: using joins or using sort/merge/summarize commands. Both methods discussed can be accomplished using Syncsort’s DMExpress, the high-performance data transformation product for UNIX, Linux and Windows environments.
